The OOD
Fans from all over the world got “KITTed” (sorry..) out for a “Knight” (going pun mad…) to remember when one of the biggest conventions of its kind came to West Yorkshire. Lovers of iconic 80s TV show Knightrider, starring David Hasselhoff, brought their treasured modified Pontiac Trans Ams to wow the crowds at Castleford’s Xscape leisure complex for the fifth annual Knighcon convention.
1960′s Weekend in Haworth – Yeah Man – Groovy! Nestling just below the atmospheric West Yorkshire moors, the beautiful village of Haworth is the jewel in the crown of the Worth Valley.
Street performers and musicians in the main street of Haworth captured the decade for everyones pleasure, whilst scooters, Minis and V-dubs cruised the streets. There were dances and record ’hops’ to be enjoyed and many people dressed in period clothing to transport you back to the time when life was less complicated. The 60′s style Tardis made an appearence along with our WWII style Dalek (called Churchill) kept the children (and adults) entertained throughout the weekend.
The STAR centre from the Keighley campus of Leeds City College also had a marquee where kids build rockets!

Testimonial:“..it was AMAZING!! i have lots of photos to send to you and letters from the children.
I hid the daleks in the school garden before the children got to school. Then as they were in the classroom singing with the teaching assistant, I (and a year 6 boy) went into the garden and slowly drove the daleks down onto the placeground. You could hear screams of excitement from my class as they saw us coming. All the other classes stopped what they were doing and watched us through the window – we danced and shook plungers and waved at the children. Everyone was laughing and waving. My children thought the daleks were real – even though they could see me inside.
The children then had a turn in the daleks and wheeled them round the playground – they are really safe, and steer well unlike supermarket shopping trolleys! Everyone has been asking where they are from. The man from the Brighouse Echo arrived at 11 and the children told him the whole story, about how the dalek had been communicating with them for the last few weeks. I have told him to put your company in the article. He said it might be in this Thurs, but will be more likely to be next thurs – I will send you a copy.
Every playtime the children play in the daleks – the caretaker managed to squeeze the black one into my classroom this evening so the children will love it tomorrow when they come in.
We are all so grateful to you for giving us the daleks, they have brought an unforgettable magic to the children in my class, and the whole school!…”
